Chatsworth, CA – Planet Green, a high quality inkjet remanufacturer with one of the lagrest collection & recycling programs nationwide, hosted more than 80 student visitors in one week at its remanufacturing facility to help them see the direct results of their fundraising efforts to recycle printer cartridges and cell phones.
The two student groups and their adult chaperones were from Crescenta Valley High School and Bridges Academy. Students got a firsthand look at how inkjet cartridges are inspected, cleaned, re-filled, tested and packaged. They were led through the 30,000 square foot building and introduced to the different parts of the remanufacturing process. They also met different employees of the company and learned about Planet Green’s efforts to minimize waste and conserve energy.
After the tour, the students were allowed to ask questions about career paths, recycling and other environmental initiatives at the company. They were also treated to a free pizza party.
In order to educate the local community on environmental issues, Planet Green has been offering tours to student groups since 2008. Groups of up to 40 students are taken through the facility and given information about the details of remanufacturing and the benefits of recycling.
